History

We Laukhuffs have been involved in organ building for over 185 years. Martin Andreas Laukhuff, the founder of the firm, apprenticed with Johann Eberhard Walcker and worked with the famous Eberhard Friedrich Walcker until he established his own shop in 1823. Thereafter, his three sons continued the business. While August was responsible for specialisation in the production of organ parts, Andreas busied himself with the commercial side of the business, and presumably Adolf attended to the artistic aspects.

Already in the 19th century, Laukhuff succeeded in developing business relationships abroad. Laukhuff Catalogues were a yardstick for quality in organ building and continue to influence the craft to the present day. Otto and Wilhelm, the sons of »Kommerzienrat« Andreas Laukhuff had to manage the reconstruction of the factory after its destruction in 1945. Hans-Erich and Peter now manage the business. Aug. Laukhuff still remains the number one address in organ building.
